Review : Noxema Original Deep Cleansing Cream

I have wanted to try this for a long time since most of them rave about this product. Since I always need a cleansing cream. When I saw this in the Grocery Outlet, I decided to try this since it was about $2.50 for 12 oz which is a lot of products.

The packing is a simple tub but the con for this type of packaging is that you have to dip your fingers in the tub which sometimes is not hygienic but since I don’t care about that it was fine with me. The product is a cream which doesn’t foam and it feels like you are applying cream all over your face and just washing it after that. This product has eucalyptus oil which gives the tingle sensation which I love :) . It does clean your face without making it dry.

Be sure to understand that it doesn’t remove eyeliner or its residue, it only removes dirt, oil and makeup :) . But overall, I am reaching for this product most of the morning and I like it. I would definitely recommend this product for people with normal or dry skin but I don’t know how it is with oily skin.

Motherhood Tales : Life after India Trip

I know that I haven’t been blogging a lot and that because of the jet lag from our trip back to Seattle. Do I really have to rant about the trip? After 2 weeks of rest in Chennai, the trip was hard on all of us and lets not forget about the delay of the flights in Chicago due to weather :( . So basically our travel time was about 34 hrs  and by the time we reached home it was about 1.30 am and we were wide awake. We slept by 4 am till about 4 pm and this was Saturday. I didn’t realize that we would get such a bad Jet lag.

I am going to talk about how we are surviving here with Baby A :) . After a month of all those people, she found it difficult to get used to being alone. She was cranky most of the time and we had to entertain her all the time which we somehow managed. But the main problem was her getting back to routine. She was sleeping in between us during our trip and she found it hard to go back to her room and sleep in her crib. So we decided to wait till she comes back to this routine and then put her in her room. Did I mention that all 3 of us are rollers :D (we toss and turn throughout the night) and that’s difficult with a baby inbetween :D . She basically occupies all the space in the bed. We were all sleep deprived since she slept for 5 hrs and woke up at 3 am :( .

So we decided to force ourselves to go back to her routines. We placed her in her crib at night and let her cry till she goes back to sleep. The first day she cried for about 1 hr and went back to sleep but got up in the middle of the night and started crying for 2 hrs :( . We went to her room every 20 min and talked to her and said Good night. The second day she cried only for 30 min. And by third day, She was so sleepy that she sleeps within 5 min or so. And yesterday, She actually showed us the door of her room so that we could place her in her crib :D (yayy) . We were so excited about it :) .

We have also switched her formula to whole milk and surprisingly, she drinks it :) . I also add a little bit of Horlicks to it for the flavor and some nutrients. She has grown so stubborn. She is walking now :D and she chases our kitties :D . I have to entertain her most of the time and that becomes difficult for me as well. How do you entertain your toddlers throughout the day? They have so little attention span :) . I am so hoping to join some toddler classes so that I can entertain her more.

And that is why I haven’t been able to blog at all because I sleep by 8 pm as well :) . And I find it tiring to open my eyes by 7 pm . Hopefully I am over jet lag and should be able to blog more in the future.

Did I mention my little trip to Fish spa? I totally loved it :D

Nail #43 : OPI Dim Sum Plum

I got this nail polish long time ago in a salon which was having 20% off on these nail polishes and I can’t remember how much I got these for. I have heard about this nail polish from lot of bloggers and this is one of their favorite so I decided to go for this :D . This is a pinky plum color and the picture just doesn’t show the true color. This is a fantastic color for my skin tone and I think this is one of those colors which will suits all skin tone :) . I really love this color and my toes love this color :) . This is definitely one of the colors you should have if you are obsessed with nail colors.

Songs of the month #17

I am obsessed about the songs from the tamil movie “3″ and I am certainly not talking about “Kolaveri di” . During my trip to India, all I heard in the music channel was this song and it annoys me. I am starting to hate this song and I think this is due to over exposure. But I love the rest of the songs in this movie. I am a melody kind of girl and these songs keep me humming most of the time. This is by a new music director Anirudh Ravichandran and I am impressed by this newcomer. The songs which I have played over and over in my ipod are:

  • Idhazhin Orum – sung by Ajeesh, Anirudh Ravichandran
  • Kannazhaga – sung by Dhanush , Shruthi Hassan ( my fav of the bunch)
  • Nee partha – sung by Swetha Mohan, Vijay Yesudas
  • Poo nee poo – sung by Mohit Chauhan, Anirudh Ravichandran

Storage in your Closet

I have looked for a storage idea for my ear rings and my scarves/shawl collection. And I found them in TJ Maxx, of course :D . I got this idea from one of the bloggers who is one of my favorite :) . So for my shawl collection I got a hanger which has lots of hanging rods and I think this is basically for storing tie but I think it is one of the best options for the shawl. I have loads of shawl and I just kept them on a shelf but I always go for the one which is on the top and forget about all the ones which sits at the bottom. I loved this idea and so decided to go for it. I got this hanger for about $ 8 which is not bad. I just tied them in the hanger and you can actually see how much I have and it is easy since you can just hang it in your closet.

The storage for the ear-ring is also the best option. I always store all my earrings in a plastic box and you can imagine trying to find a pair in a box full of ear rings :) . I found this storage in TJ Maxx as well but the full price was about $ 15 and I kept wondering if its worth that much money. But during the clearance sale, I found them for about $ 10 and I decided to go ahead and buy them and it is one of the best decision I have made :) . Once I filled the storage and hanged them in my closet, I kept  thinking why didn’t I buy this before because now I could actually see how much I have. The storage is on both sides which is good and you have a lot of storage option. They had many colors but I chose the green just because I liked the print :) . And at the last row, you even have a bigger pouch for your watch or bangles.

So readers, tell me how you store your jewellery and scarves. Maybe you might have a better idea than me :) .

Happy Birthday to my Daughter

I just can’t believe my baby is already 1. It’s just feels like yesterday when I got admitted in the hospital. The year just flew by and there she is walking already :) . I remembered all her FIRST’s, her first smile. her first turning over, her first sitting and all her firsts. It made me smile :) . Now she is so stubborn that she shakes her head for NO :D and let me tell you she has lots of NO’s :D . She is certainly going to be a charmer. I am blessed with a wonderful baby and family. What more can I ask?

I am looking forward to the future and see how she turns out. Happy Birthday Naai Kutti.

Review: 7 (Seven) Secrets Of Vishnu

7 (Seven) Secrets Of Vishnu
7 (Seven) Secrets Of Vishnu by Devdutt Pattanaik
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The first time I heard about this author is from a friend of mine and I also watched his lecture in TED about Mythology and he impressed me a lot. So I decided to get couple of books by this author. The reason I got this book is to know our Gods. I wanted answers so that I could tell my non-hindu friends about our Gods. And this book pretty much tells you all about Vishnu. I did find it a little bit too philosophical but I loved the pictures with the meaning for each of them. Some of the stuffs went over my head but all I wanted was the basic knowledge of Vishnu and it pretty much tells you about it. Each chapter talks about his avatar and why he was born. All I remember from childhood is the basic stories but this book showed me Why it is like that. Though it took me nearly 6 days to finish this, I loved this book.

Nail #42 : Rimmel Blue Vogue & Essie Shine of the times

I am absolutely in love with this Essie nail polish and I actually understand what the bloggers were talking about. I applied the Rimmel Blue Vogue which is a dark blue almost black blue. I just applied one coat and then after it dried up, I applied one coat of Essie Shine of the times. The picture doesn’t do justice to this nail polish but you could see lot of swatches in the blogs. I love the shine and I kept looking at my nails :D . I got lot of compliments for this nail polish as well :) .

Busy Vacation

I have been so busy during the past 2 weeks that I haven’t read lot of books and am busy with travelling most of the time. I did meet a friend of mine while visiting Hyderabad but most of the days was spent looking after Baby A since hubby was working there. Then we left Hyderabad to Budduwada which is about 4 hrs drive and I began to see how tough it will since she was in the car seat most of the time. She was unhappy about travelling in the car seat and we had a tough time looking after her.

We stayed there for about 4 days and had some good food :) . Then we left to Thirupathi which is about 9 hrs drive  which doesn’t includes the break we took. By the time we reached there we were all tired and it felt like a jet lag :( . I hated the travel but we absolutely have to visit the temple so that we can do the mottai (mundan) for Baby A. We reached the room in Thirupathi about 10.30 pm and we had to get up about 5.30 am so that we can do her mottai. I didn’t go since i wanted to get ready before they come back. Apparently she didn’t cry at all.

Then we had to stand in the queue for 2 hrs which is apparently not bad and then we had to visit all the surrounding temples and I was cranky enough to snap at everyone. The road from Thirupathi to Chennai was so bad that half way through I have back aches :( . By the time we reached home it was 9.30 pm and all I wanted to do was have a shower and sleep. The next 3 days was busy with relatives visiting the baby.

On January 23rd, we celebrated Baby A’s star b’day traditionally and it is called Ayushomam where you do yaga for the long life of the baby. It was done in a grand manner. She had the cutest pattu pavadai in blue and green. We also pierced her ears and she looks so cute in mottai and the ear-ring. Two of my friends came for the function and most of them didn’t attend. I guess since it was on monday, they had work.

The past 2 days have been a little bit relaxed one and I am getting tired just from the heat since all I want to do is sleep :) . We still have to get some stuffs for our trip back. On the personal care side, my facial skin looks better here in Chennai where as my feet is a mess. Its dry and rough. I need a pedicure soon :) . I am hoping that I will have time to post in the blog. I don’t know what I will blog about but I guess I will find some thing :D .

P.S. I am getting fat just by eating 3 proper meals and some snack in-between :D .
