7 (Seven) Secrets Of Vishnu by Devdutt Pattanaik
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The first time I heard about this author is from a friend of mine and I also watched his lecture in TED about Mythology and he impressed me a lot. So I decided to get couple of books by this author. The reason I got this book is to know our Gods. I wanted answers so that I could tell my non-hindu friends about our Gods. And this book pretty much tells you all about Vishnu. I did find it a little bit too philosophical but I loved the pictures with the meaning for each of them. Some of the stuffs went over my head but all I wanted was the basic knowledge of Vishnu and it pretty much tells you about it. Each chapter talks about his avatar and why he was born. All I remember from childhood is the basic stories but this book showed me Why it is like that. Though it took me nearly 6 days to finish this, I loved this book.

I am entering a couple of book challenges this year. Lets see if I can complete them
. I am not so fond of writing book reviews because I am not good with fancy words or writing them like a professional but I do love books and for any book lovers that’s the main point
.
The first one is the Good Reads. I did join last year and I ended up reading a lot more that my challenge
. I joined the Good Reads on June 2011 since one of my book club member recommended me. I totally love the way I can keep track of the books I read and LOVE the fact that you find new friends and you can check out what they read. I found lot of good books from them
. So last year from June, my goal was to finish reading 250 books but in the end I ended up finishing 330 books
. Yes, you can see that I am obsessed with books. This year my goal is 500 books
.

The second challenge is by this lovely book reviewer who I found when searching for some book blogs. I like to think that I would easily finish this challenge within 6 months but you never know. I am not a professional reviewer or even a good one. But I just like to tell other book lovers what I truly feel. I have found a lot of book bloggers from her website which I am loving. Since I don’t review every book I read. I will start adding the books here or maybe even link it to my good reads.
The other challenge is again by Book Chick City but its Mystery & Suspense genre which is not one of my favorite one but am willing to enter this challenge since I just have to read a minimum of 12 books
.
This one will be a piece of cake
or I hope it is since all I have to do is read 6 Demon books or 12 Werewolves 0r 18 Vampires books. I guess I could cover them within this year
.

When Darkness Comes by Alexandra Ivy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I love this series. Its about a Vampire and Human, the forbidden attraction. Dante is a guardian to Chalice for more than 300 years and when the owner, who is a witch, is killed the Chalice is transferred to Abby who is a human. The attraction between Dante and Abby is not difficult to miss. The whole books is about how Abby gets control of her power and how she gets mated to Dante. Abby who was abused when she was small, is strong enough to face the demons from hell. She gets stronger every day facing wizards, magic, witches, demons, etc. In the end, she fights the evil witch and saves the world along with her mate Dante.

Fated by Rebecca Zanetti
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I wonder why I chose this book. Is it because a friend read it or is it the cover or is it both?
From the first page, I was captivated. Talen (vampire & alpha male) wanted Cara (mom, psychic & scientist) as his mate and want to protect her daughter, Janie. Cara wants to protect her daughter so she decided to go with Talen and mate with him. The story has lot of characters and I am looking forward to their stories in the future. All the characters are fascinating.
Sometimes I did find Cara to be weak since she does what Talen wants her to do. But maybe that is the compromise she has to make for being with an Alpha male. Talen keeps stressing the fact that she is her mate and it was little bit annoying and I felt like telling him to get over it. Maybe the author could tone down the alpha male a bit in the next series
.
I am captivated by Janie. She reminds of Robin D. Owens hearmates characters(Vini & Avellana)whose book I am looking forward to.
The story was so grasping that I wanted to know who is going to end up in the next book. I love the fact that it has genetics in it being a biology student myself
. I totally understood what they are talking about during the discussion about their research.
I think this is a wonderful book but I hope that the author keeps us interested in the following series.

Good Girls Don’t by Victoria Dahl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I have been wanting to read this book for a long time ever since I saw lot of good reviews. The book is almost believable. Everybody had faults and nobody’s perfect. Tessa who manages the brewery along with her 2 brothers (Jamie & Eric), falls in lust with Luke who is a friend of Jamie. There is lot of family drama going on and she is trying to keep the family together. Luke who is a cop, has problem of his own, divorced and his partner is pregnant and everybody thinks that its his.
Robbery at the brewery brings Tessa and Luke together. You realize the tension between Eric and Jamie is because Jamie feels he is under-appreciated and his opinion is not worth much, whereas Eric has always been the big brother and didn’t think he needs to consult with his brother and sister about the business. Tessa feels the need to keep the family together because she is afraid that they might just leave her.
Too much drama in everyone’s life and maybe that is why its an interesting book. Moving on to the funny times in the book, I loved it when Eric blushed when Tessa talks about sex because he still thinks of her as little sister and that she is a virgin. Loved the fact that all you have to say is female problems to brothers and they just disappear.
Moving on to the mystery of who is responsible for the robbery, you do kinda of know who did it by half way through the book. Overall, I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Jamie’s book, here I come.
Review: Bet Me

Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is one of the best can’t-keep-the-book-down book I have read in a long time. Min (heroine) and Cal (hero) are pushed together by a bet. Even though they don’t like each other at first, they are somehow drawn towards each other. Min is a curvy woman and everyone seems to make her lose weight including the horror mother. I completely understood her frustration when her mother keeps telling her not to eat carbs and sweets and keeps yapping about losing weight.
Cal who has his own business is a dyslexic and awful parents as well. I also understand how the family keeps putting you down. Cal can’t seem to resist betting and Min’s ex bet him that he has to sleep with her in a month. Throw in some best friends, sister’s wedding, amazing food, awful ex-es and there you have a wonderful grabbing story which you want to finish.
It is a humorous stories and I completely loved it.

Green Fire by Monette Michaels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The synopsis says it all. This story is almost believable. I love the fact that the hero and heroine is just a normal person who has some unique abilities. The villain was almost scary because it does happen in the real world. The way that the hero tries to protect the heroine and the way he falls in love on first sight was fantastic to read. But he is an alpha male who think that the heroine is “mine”. But they complement each other and I like it. I give it 5 stars because i really did enjoy reading this book.

Her Perfect Revenge by Anna Mara
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Totally loved this book from page 1.
Revenge. Is it sweet or is it a dish best served cold? I loved the smart witty comments and humor in this book. I had a smile most of the time I was reading this book.
I totally understand the motive behind Christina and I wondered if I would do the same. She had a opportunity to humiliate Bill who humiliated her in high school. But by second chapter you began to sympathize with Bill. William is a overbearing father where as Bill is a ex-drunk who lives to spend his father’s money.
This books has sex, lies, secrets and love. What else do you need? I loved all the characters but by the end of the story you remember the quote “Those who plot the destruction of others often fall themselves”. Christina falls in love with Bill and forgives him for her humiliation but is afraid to reveal the truth. Bill realized that he loves Christiana and wants to marry her. But when the truth is revealed, you realize that love just doesn’t conquer all. But with the happy ending you were looking forward to, this book was a total romance lovers haven.
