Dockland Maritime Festival

We went to the street festival yesterday and I had so much fun. The weather was perfect about 21 deg. We reached there about 2.30 pm and then started walking. They have about nearly 60 stalls and most of them were food which is my favourite πŸ™‚ . First stop were paella which is a like a briyani cooked in stock. It contains peppers, chicken & sausages but the worst thing for me was that it was cooked in fish stock 😦 . I don’t like the smell of fish. So we actually threw them away because we couldn’t eat more than 3 spoon.

There were stalls of chocolates, bakery, cookie and of course drinks and ice cream. They also had some cloths, jewellery and other stuffs. But i didn’t buy anything except food πŸ™‚ . The next stall we visited was Falafel which had the best food ever. I had the spinach & onion wrap which was absolutely yumm (I am drooling just thinking of it), we had bhaklava (which is sweets which is amazing as well) & lemonade which was fantastic made with mint in it πŸ™‚ .

Then we walked for nearly 20 min where we saw a stall of just different types of biscuits, cookies, etc. I bought the cinnamon biscuits and ginger biscuits which was sooo good. Then we walked for nearly another 30 min where we found a malasiyan food stall πŸ™‚ and we had a good food of egg fried rice, noodles & stir fry. Then we just walked for another 10 min and found a sorbet stall (yayy).

I prefer sorbet instead of ice cream. I got 3 scoops of lemon, wild berry & mango sorbet. The mango was out of this world, it tasted exactly like the alphonso mangoes. I think they probably got the mango pulp from an indian store. Finally after walking for 10 more min we found a frozen yoghurt stall which was amazing. I think its more of a frozen buttermilk and also it tasted like sweet lassi πŸ™‚ but with the perfect less sugar exactly right for me.

The festival also had some people dressed up funnily πŸ™‚ and it was good. Men dressed as penguins, chicken & koala beer. I think they had some fun stuffs for kids like fill a pendent with colour sands and also face painting. All the cute little boys had their face painted as tiger, vampire, etc and girls of course all glittery flowers. The highlights of the trip was that i got a temporary tattoo πŸ™‚ . I always wanted a tattoo but i am too much of a coward when comes to pain. The thought of that kind of pain will give me heart attack rather than the pain itself (lol).

I remember hubby’s cousin’s friend had come over and stayed with us and he got a tattoo. He showed it to us as soon as he got it and it was bleeding (the horror of just thinking of the pain). Believe me when i saw that the thought of needle near me scares the crap out of me. It is a big deal for me even to go for blood testing πŸ™‚ . So i got a butterfly tattoo which is pink & black πŸ™‚ .

But I really had fun at the festival and I loved the food there πŸ™‚ .
