Flora’s Mini Marathon

As you all know, I joined to walk in Flora’s Mini Marathon on June 7 which is today πŸ˜€ . I was quite nervous for the past 2 days thinking if I could finish it. So yesterday night, Β I couldn’t sleep as I was little bit tense. I think I might have slept by 2 am and got up at 10 am πŸ™‚ . We left home by 1 pm and reached the city center by 2.15 pm.

The day was horrible, it was raining all day and of course, I didn’t have raincoat but I took my umbrella with me. After reaching the city center I realised that umbrella is not going to work out. So I wanted to look for a raincoat but what do you know? Somebody was selling poncho rain coats for € 5 and I doubt its worth that much even in shops πŸ™‚ . Anyhoos, I had to buy it.

I walked a bit to join the walkers in the marathon which is about 15 min walk πŸ™‚ .Then when I reached there, there was so much people. I have never seen such crowds. Apparently, about 40,000 women participated in this marathon πŸ™‚ . I had to wait for about 15 more min for the start of the marathon. When it started, It took me 29 min to cross the starting line from where I was standing πŸ˜€ .

I kept telling myself that I will finish the walk so I started slowly and I seriously wished I have bought my ipod. I didn’t get it because the website said not to use any music system. But there was lot of ladies using the ipod. My walk began slowly but by the time I finished 2 km, I had to stop at the pit stop πŸ˜€ . Of course there was a queue and I had to wait for 10 min there. Then I walked and walked, I still can’t believe that I finished it. By 6 km, I kept thinking that I have to make it.

The race also had some men dressed as women to participate in the marathon for fun. So I was people watching the entire time I was walking. It was quite interesting to see all kinds of people. And most of them were better at walking fast than me. By the time I reached 8 km, I told myself that it’s just 2 km and I kept walking. At the last km, I had so much energy, maybe it was adrenaline πŸ˜€ . I finally finished the finishing line in 2 hrs 39 min which includes the 30 min late in the starting line πŸ™‚ . So my time was 2 hrs 12 min to finish the 10 km walk, not bad, ehh? πŸ˜€

After finished it, I was full on adrenalin and by the time I was in my car, my feet and legs were starting to get numb. After coming home, I had a hot shower and my muscles started to get relaxed and so it began to stiff and my feet and calf muscles were really numb.

But all I could think was, Thank God I finished it. Because every one of my friends knew about the marathon, I didn’t want to tell them that I didn’t make it. But I did πŸ˜€ and its the bestΒ achievementΒ of this year πŸ˜€ .
