Motherhood Tales : Recovery

I am going to talk about recovery from the c-section. I have to say it was quick πŸ™‚ . I am amazed at how our body recovers quickly. I still remember the pain when my pain-killer wore off on the first day. It was unbelievable. I got dizzy when I tried to get up which was in 15-18 hrs after the operation. Then within 48 hrs, I was actually walking but it was stiff and of course with the help of painkillers πŸ™‚ . I remember when I refused the pain-killer on the first day thinking that I can manage without it but what a stupid thing to do? I didn’t realise that it was due to the pain-killer, I was able to numb the pain.

I was also bloated because of the IV fluid, my mom said my face looks like I had put on lots of weight 😦 and once I got home, my feet was swollen like anything. I couldn’t even see my ankles. But within 3 weeks, the swelling went away and my face was back to normal (Thank God). The first few weeks was tough as I needed help getting up but within 3 weeks, I was off the pain killers and I didn’t need help getting up at all πŸ™‚ .Β The worst thing was the itching near the c-section area where the tape was sticking and I bought the non-itching gel to help me with it.

But Thank God, my mom is here to help me πŸ™‚ . She takes care of the cooking and she also takes care of the baby during early mornings so that I can sleep and recover. It is difficult just because we have to feed the baby every 3 hrs. So we have our shifts between me, hubby and my mom πŸ˜€ . Some days Baby A gets cranky that we all lose sleep but I guess that is the joys of motherhood πŸ˜† .

I had this horrible fear of getting fat after pregnancy 😦 and I just couldn’t get past it during my pregnancy. But I think it’s because of my Gestational Diabetes that I didn’t put on lot of unwanted weight πŸ™‚ . I think, it’s basically the diet which helped me stay off the unwanted weight. I don’t know how much weight I put on during the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy but I remember getting bigger and bigger.

So during my first walk within 48 hrs after the surgery, I saw a weighing scale in the hospital and I wanted to weight myself πŸ™‚ . I weighed about 165 pounds (74.8 kgs) and I was just feeling bloated with all the IV fluid in me πŸ™‚ . So when I had my 6 weeks checkup, they weighed me and I was 150 pounds (68 kgs) πŸ˜€ (YAY) . Even though I have lost weight, I can still see a little bump in my tummy. For some ladies, it just doesn’t go away after birth. So I am planning to do exercise and yoga to help me reduce it πŸ™‚ .

Some ladies get back to their normal weight and flat tummy very quickly and some don’t. I hope I don’t belong to the latter category. I really want to wear my old clothes and all I have to do is lose at 15 pounds (6.8 kgs) and I really hope I can do that with the help of yoga. I have a membership for yoga class for a month and I am hoping to use it to the max so that I can see if I get any result πŸ™‚ .

I do eat normally which means home cooking by my mom, so no junks which help me off the weight. I was eating lots of sweets and chocolates for the past 3 weeks and I have to control that as well. It’s as if I am compensating for those 2 months when I couldn’t eat sugar πŸ˜€ . But I am keeping my eye on it for the past 4 days πŸ˜€ .

Moving on to my kitties, they are getting used to the baby. My blackie even sleeps next to her in the afternoon and he doesn’t wake up even when she cries πŸ˜€ . You guys know how my blackie loves to sit in my lap and ask me to pet him πŸ™‚ , so when he sees me feeing the baby, he wants to sit in my lap as well. I guess he got jealous of the baby and wanted to make sure that I love him too πŸ˜€ . But for the past week, since the baby has grown bigger, I am placing her in my lap and then feed her which my blackie didn’t like at all πŸ˜† . He just couldn’t get over the fact that the baby was occupying his place.

He kept standing near me and looked at the baby so hubby said he will feed her and took her. As soon as the baby left my lap, heΒ occupiedΒ it πŸ˜€ . It was so amazing to see them around the baby. I would let them walk near the baby and they would just walk around like and sniff her. But my mom was scared that they would walk on top of her and till now they have never done that πŸ˜€ . My blackie even sleeps next to her and he know that he can’t sleep on top of her πŸ˜€ .

On the end note, I have fully recovered from the surgery and I am still adjusting to motherhood πŸ˜€ . Baby A is doing well and she is certainly a drama queen πŸ˜† . You should see her cry when we refused to carry her in our arms πŸ˜€ and she pouts πŸ™„ Can you believe it? I think she got us all trained according to her requirements πŸ˜€ .
